Lynne Parker delighted at progress of Lyric Theatre

Lynne Parker

Rough Magic Theatre Company was founded in 1984 and has established itself as one of the leading independent theatre companies in Ireland. Under the leadership of Lynne Parker, Artistic Director and co-founder of Rough Magic, the company has in recent years become a major force in Irish Theatre, winning the Irish Theatre Award for Best Production four times in six years among many other accolades. Rough Magic collaborated with the Lyric Theatre in May 2008 when they co-produced two plays, Pentecost and Spokesong, by Lynne’s playwright uncle Stewart Parker, one of the greatest playwrights to emerge from Northern Ireland.

Lynne paid a special visit to the Lyric’s construction site last week escorted by actor and Lyric trustee Dan Gordon.

“I was thrilled to see how the new building is progressing, a truly dynamic site that manages to combine order with energy. Particularly excited to enter the studio space, which will become such a hub of creative talent, and delighted to see that there are all sorts of nooks and crannies where unexpected creativity can emerge. So far, terrific. Watch that space.”
