Lyric and Hollyoaks Actor Names a Seat in new Lyric Theatre

Belfast actor Glen Wallace took a break from the set of Channel 4’s ‘Hollyoaks’ recently to enjoy the Lyric’s production of ‘The Miser’ in the Elmwood Hall and to visit the site of the new theatre. Glen has appeared in a number of productions at the Lyric, including ‘The Snow Queen’ and ‘The Arms and the Man’, and he also joined in the madness and mayhem of ‘Glinda’s Glitter Ball’, the Gala Fundraiser which marked the closure of the old theatre in January 2008.
Glen said “I can’t believe how amazing the new theatre looks already. There’s a real sense of excitement and expectation in and around all that scaffolding, and the opening next spring can’t come quickly enough for me. I am immensely proud to have the Lyric Theatre on my CV and I can’t wait to work there again. I’m sure that the heart of the old theatre will beat even stronger in its new home.”
During his visit, Glen also made a donation to the Lyric’s Name a Seat Campaign, dedicating a seat in the auditorium of the new theatre in memory of Belfast actor Kieran Creggan: “Kieran was a great inspiration and support to me when I entered the acting profession. He was a skilled performer and a superb ambassador for talent in Northern Ireland, but most of all he was a great friend. He was taken away from us far too soon and I can think of no better way for him to be remembered than with a seat named in his honour in the new Lyric.”
