Name a Seat
Finding it hard to pick a gift for your nearest and dearest this Valentine's Day? If so, why not name a seat for your loved one in the main auditorium of the new theatre and support our fundraising campaign at the same time!
Naming a seat offers a unique opportunity for you to:
- mark a special birthday or anniversary;
- pay lasting tribute to a friend or loved one;
- demonstrate your personal commitment to the arts.
‘Patrick, Karen and Maureen named two seats for their parents on the occasion of their mother’s 70th birthday. This was in recognition of their parents’ lifelong appreciation of theatre and the arts. They requested that the seats be next to each other to ensure that their mum and dad were always kept together.’

Why others have Named a Seat:
‘Grainne Tobin, Newcastle, named a seat for her parents Peg and Oliver Tobin of Armagh, in memory of a wonderful night of fun and laughter together at the Lyric, seeing Munster beat the All-Blacks again in Alone it Stands. ‘
‘Dr Seán O’Hare’s colleagues at the Royal Group of Hospitals, Pharmacy Department named a seat as a retirement present to celebrate his love of theatre, many happy nights passed at the Lyric and his many stage roles as an amateur drama actor.’
‘Margaret, East Belfast, named a seat in memory of her husband Michael with whom she shared many special, happy and memorable nights at the Lyric.’
‘The Drama Department at St Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt, named a seat to reflect its support for the new theatre and its commitment to the development of drama in Northern Ireland. It also recognises the significant role which the Lyric has played in the education of its pupils.’
‘John named a seat in celebration of the life and work of his father Michael Gormley, an actor and lifelong friend of the Lyric.’
'Noelle named seats as Christmas presents for her children- Cormac, Suzanne, Gavin, Mark and Louise. Her mother instilled a lifelong love of theatre in her, and she wanted to pass this on to her own children, whilst contributing to keeping one of the most important arts venues open and alive. Her children are scattered across the world, but she looks forward to them all sharing a night together in the new Lyric when it opens in 2011.'
The spacious and comfortable seats in the main auditorium of our new theatre will be designed in a single, raked tier to guarantee optimum sightlines and ensure a sense of intimacy between actors and audience. A personal donation of £500 or a corporate donation of £1,000 will secure your seat. You can pay in a lump sum or spread payments over ten months. With a limited number of seats remaining, we recommend that you name one today!
Please note: Naming a seat does not include admission to individual events and performances or guarantee reserved seating. Location of seats purchased is at the discretion of the Lyric Theatre. Your personalised nameplate will remain for the life of the seat.
